The Nacogdoches Fire Department is supported by the Bertis Matlock Rehab unit which is staffed by 10 volunteer civilians. The Rehab Staff comes out to working fires to assist those firefighters who have come out of the fire for a rest. The staff provides refreshments, towels and other supplies as needed and depending on the weather conditions.

The Nacogdoches Fire Department is further supported by the fire department secretary. The secretary handles the payroll and many other record keeping functions that are necessary to keep the department operating effectively.
