| The department utilizes the facilities located at the Delbert A. Teutsch Fire Training Facility located on Powers Street. This facility has a live fire burn building and a tower. There are many uses for the facilities to enable local firefighters to learn new skills and maintain their current skill levels. |
1. New Recruit Training: New recruit testing is performed at the training field. New firefighter recruits undergo special training during their probationary training period.
2. Fire Service Continuing Education: Each certified employee must receive no less than 20 hours of continuing education training each year.
3. Emergency Medical Training: Firefighters are continually meeting certain EMS training standards to maintain their level of certification.
4. Safety Training: Each employee has regular safety training classes monthly.
5. Hazmat Training: Each Nacogdoches Fire Department employee is trained to the First Responder - Operations level standard. The requirement has each employee receiving 24 hours per year of training in hazardous materials. |
