The Planning Department is responsible for current and long-range planning. Current planning includes zoning, subdivision review, site plan review, airport zoning, historic preservation projects and grant work (state and local), downtown redevelopment, community development projects such as HOME housing rehabilitation program, unsafe structure abatement, and other day-to-day activities. Long-range planning involves comprehensive planning for areas of the city and the city as a whole. The Planning Department also oversees the city's compliance with the architectural barrier provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
