Minecraft Mania 1

Dates: September 10, October 1, November 5 and December 3

Time: 1:30 - 3:00pm

Ages: 7 - 11 years

Registration: Please register by the Friday before each event.

Team up with us on the library’s own Minecraft server.  We provide the laptops and access to the game, and you provide the creativity and fun.  For those with a laptop and game license, feel free to bring your own and join the fun.

Human Hungry Hippos

Date: September 28

Time: 4:30pm

Ages: 10-17 years

Registration: Please register by September 27.

You asked for it!  Once again we’ll team you up in pairs and play a life-size version of the classic game, Hungry, Hungry Hippos.  If you missed it the first time, you’ll have first dibs!


Escape the Puzzle Room: Part 2

Date: October 10

Time: 5:30pm

Ages: 10-17 years

Registration: Please register by October 8.

Join us for another escape room experience with all new challenges and puzzles. As a group, the prisoners, er...participants, will have a limited amount of time to find their way out of the library by decoding, unlocking and problem solving.  Think you have what it takes?


Nerf™ Battle: Bigger and Badder

Ages: 10-17 years

Once again, you’ve asked and we’ve responded.  We’re expanding our Nerf battle and adding new challenges.  Bring it on!




Makerspace @ the Library
Come see our new space in the back of the library!
Makers are a collaborative community of all ages who share a passion for making things and who are engaged in experimentation, innovation and creativity.  Our Makerspace merges DIY, craft, art, electronics, programming, math, science and engineering into projects for both young people and their mentors.  Our goal is to support and grow the Maker movement in our local community through experimental play.  We aim to encourage and enable young people to try new things, learn by doing and build the confidence that comes from guided problem solving.  If you dream it, you can do it – at the public library!

Makerspace For Parents

Date: September 21

Time: 5:30pm

Ages: 18 years & up

Registration: Please register by September 20.

Learn some easy, fun and educational maker projects that you can do at home with your kids.  We’ll provide examples and supplies for hands-on practice to get the hang of making slime, chalk, giant bubbles, play dough and more.  Bring the kids to test everything out!

Makerspace: Blacklight Painting

Date: September 23

Time: 5:30pm

Ages: 10 years & up

Registration: Please register by September 22.

Experience a unique approach to art making and paint in the dark with special paint that will glow under blacklights.


Makerspace: Animation & Film Studio

Date: October 5

Time: 5:30pm

Ages: 10 years & up

Registration: Please register by October 4.

We’ve done stop motion and live action stop motion, but that’s just scratching the surface.  In this workshop, we’ll explore green screen video and new techniques to make your movies more awesome!


Makerspace: Horrorgami & Gingerbread Zombies

Date: October 24

Time: 5:30pm

Ages: 10 years & up

Registration:  Please register by October 22.

Just in time for Halloween, help us celebrate by creating ghoulish papercrafts and delicious, but demented, zombie cookies.


Makerspace: Paper Circuits

Date: November 2

Time: 5:30pm

Ages: 10 years & up

Registration: Please register by November 1.

Make the mundane into the marvelous by lighting up your paper projects with LEDs and electronic circuits.  Our makers will learn the basics of circuitry and apply them to their own unique creations.


Makerspace: Sewable Circuits

Date: November 14

Time: 5:30pm

Ages: 10 years & up

Registration:  Please register by November 12.

Impress and delight your friends with custom electronic creations sewn into your clothes.  We’ll give you the foundation to create stunningly cool fabric projects, with practice in electronic circuits, pattern making  and stitchery. We’ll even have practice using a sewing machine and other cool tools.


Makerspace: Engineering Challenges

Date: December 12

Time: 5:30pm

Ages: 10 years & up

Registration: Please register by December 10.

Design, build and test solutions to challenging engineering problems, like Cross the Chasm, Water Towers and more.  Supplies will be provided for these timed challenges, but the creativity and innovation are on you!

Enjoy a movie, Xbox games, board games, coloring and more that’s suitable for all ages.  Call 559-2970 to learn each week’s movie listing.  

Tabletop Games

Dates: September 12, October 3, November 7, December 5

Time: 5:30pm

Ages: All

Registration: Free, no registration.

Join us for a gaming evening with such favorites as Guillotine, King of Tokyo, Munchkin, Catan, Coup, Snake Oil, The Resistance and more for teens and adults.  Younger kids can play Apples to Apples, Clue, Monopoly and whatever strikes their fancy.  Come play with us!  


Family Movie Night: Indoor Drive-In

Date: October 14

Time: 6:30pm

Ages: All

Registration: Please register by October 13.

All ages will enjoy a film and movie snacks with a drive-in theme.  Join us for a blast to the past!  Check with us for title and rating information.


Mini-Pumpkin Art Party

Date: October 17

Time: 5:30pm

Ages: All

Registration: Please register by October 15.

Grab the gang and come paint/decorate/alter a mini-pumpkin.  Families, groups and couples or singles of all ages are welcome.  Just be sure to let us know how many are in your party so we’ll have enough supplies for our party.


Family Game Night

Date: November 11

Time: 5:30pm

Ages: All

Registration: Free, no registration.

Bring the family for games and activities the whole clan will enjoy!  We’ll have fun stuff suitable for a wide variety of interests and skill levels. Plus, the SFA School of Art 2D Design class will be on hand to demonstrate screen printing and kids will get to make and go home with a free custom t-shirt!


International Games Day Celebration

Date: November 19

Time: 12:00pm

Ages: All

Registration: Please register by November 18.

Celebrate games in all forms on this international holiday.  We’ll have tabletop games, Xbox games and DIY games to challenge all skill levels and interests.


Amazing Race: Library Edition

Date: December 9

Time: 5:30pm

Ages: All

Registration: Please register by December 8.

Call on your best buddies or the whole family and form groups to navigate challenges and puzzles around the library, complete with landmarks, detours and roadblocks, to find out who will win the title of Amazing Race champions! Children should be accompanied by an adult.
