Color Me Calm: Adult Coloring

Lunch Hour Book Club

Spanish/English Conversation Group (Grupo de Conversacion en Íngles y Español)

Do you know a little Spanish but never have an opportunity to practice? Would you like to meet people and help others? This group joins English-speakers who want to learn Spanish with Spanish-speakers who want to learn English. For one hour we take turns speaking in English and Spanish. This is a great way to practice your comprehension and speaking skills. All levels welcome! Si usted desea practicar su íngles, nosotros tendremos un programa para usted. Aquí practicamos como hablar íngles con personas que quieren aprender español. Ambos grupos gozan la oportunidad de aprender más. Todos niveles de íngles son bienvenidos.

Join us for a creative outlet for grown-ups where we focus on the process of creating instead of the product.  Each session will focus on a different project or technique.

Winter Gardening

Date: September 17

Even though the weather is cooling down, your garden can still be in full swing! We will discuss different plants and techniques to extend your harvest throughout the colder months in our mild Southern climate, with and without the help of a greenhouse. Lego Club will be going on in the next room, so kids can play while parents learn.

Bring Your Own Book Game Night

Date: September 30

Ages: 18 years & up

Registration: Please register by September 29.

Join us for an entertaining game of borrowed phrases.  Each participant brings an old favorite book and draws a category card.  Then, they’ll use the book to find an entertaining phrase that fits the prompt.  Each round has a judge, and the results may range from hilarious to profound!

Guerilla Gardening

Don’t have a garden, but can’t stop the aching in your green thumb? Do you wish you could see edibles growing among the azaleas, or sunflowers growing on the side of the road? We will discuss the ins and outs of guerilla gardening and what you can do to have a positive impact on the urban environment. Lego Club will be going on in the next room, so kids can play while parents learn.

Scary Movie Night

Bad Art Night

We’re bringing it back!  Create something truly appalling…and win!  Prizes for the most heinous art.  Why let kids have all the fun?  Let them hang out next door and have some art making time for yourself.  

Murder Mystery Party

Our first murder mystery night was such a hit that we’re bringing it back.  This time we’ll have all new characters and clues to keep you guessing until the end of the night.  Participants will be notified ahead of time, and costumes are fun, but not required.

Beneficial Insects

Not all insects want to eat your hard-grown vegetables and flowers. Some bugs want to feed  on the bugs that wish to eat your hard-grown vegetables and flowers. Come learn about what different kinds of insects can be put to good use in the garden, and what you can plant to give them a habitat they’ll never want to leave! Lego Club will be going on in the next room, so kids can play while parents learn.

Seed Swap

Date: December 3

Join fellow gardeners for the 2nd Annual Nacogdoches Seed Swap as we gather to share vegetable, herb, and flower seeds, along with our best tips and resources.  Feel free to bring seeds to share from your own garden or store bought seeds from past seasons.  If older seeds have been stored in a cool, dry, and dark location, most will remain viable for many years.  This program is presented in collaboration with Resilient Nacogdoches.  Stick around afterwards for a film screening.  Check with us for title and rating information.

We’ve all been there: long on gift lists...short on funds.  Never fear, the library has just what you need to create thoughtful and fun gifts, along with creative wrapping tips, so that you’ll be the hit of all the holiday parties!  We’ll make some examples and share more ideas for gifts that are heavy on impact and light on the wallet.
