Staffed by specially trained and equipped firefighters, the Swift Water Rescue Team deals with flood waters and fast moving currents of water. The team is highly skilled in water safety, ropes, knots, rescue systems, rescue operations, swimming techniques and boat operations. All team members are certified through Rescue Training International (RTI), and are re-certified on a biannual basis.
The Swift Water Rescue Team is a member of a state registry for mutual aid and can be deployed to assist whenever their services are required.
Dedicated to water safety, the dive team’s goal is the rescue or recovery of persons or property involved in water related accidents. The dive team also conducts water related investigative searches and evidence recovery. Divers often assist other agencies in searches.
All members are certified by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, (P.A.D.I.) as Rescue Divers. Members routinely train to maintain their specialized skills.
