    STEAM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. By offering STEAM classes, the public library strives to provide an environment where children can become engaged in fun, hands-on learning activities in an informal setting. The October STEAM 4 Kids will be aligned with the NEA Big Read events and Station 11. We will be studying wilderness survival skills which will include shelter building, orienteering, tracking, sewing, and more!

  11. NEA Big Read Contest: A Novel Response (NEA Big Read Nacogdoches)

    Deadline to Submit: October 1, 9:00pm Reception Date: October 25 Time: 6:00pm Location: The Cole Art Center, 329 E. Main Street Ages Categories: Under 12, 12-17, 18 years and up. Entry forms: Free. Entry forms will be available at the Public Library. Share your understanding of and personal connections to Station Eleven through creative expression. Poetry, art, or photography will be accepted. Winners will be announced in each category, and all works or images of works will be displayed on October 25 at a reception at the Cole Art Center. Poets are encouraged to read their entry at the reception. Entries will be judged by members of The Guild, a local arts organization. Documents and/or images of the work should be emailed to hicksc@ci.nacogdoches.tx.us. A brief artist’s statement may be included with the entry. One entry per person.
